Blooms to brighten up your home

So tonights blog is about faux flowers!

After a lovely evening chatting with a very good friend over nice food and a glass of wine, we spoke at length about faux flowers. Now faux/silk flowers have in the past had a very bad stigma or reputation, to be honest reminded me of old granny's, awful gaudy colours and dust gatherers dodgy B&B's........forgive me if I offend anyone. However, I feel that faux flowers are going to be coming back in a big way.....and why not? They can be very beautiful, everlasting and so much more cost effective than real cut flowers which only last a week! If you choose carefully and cleverly you can create some amazing displays which add fabulous dimension to your interior. Making it feel brighter and more homely!

I know I do yabber on about Abigail Ahern and apologies to those of you who are bored of hearing her name but she has launched an amazing range of single steams http://abigailahern.com/collections/flowers/single-stem and bouquets (created by her florist sister) http://abigailahern.com/collections/flowers/bouquets. See some examples for her flowers and berries below:

Or the other idea is to buy some lovely hydrangeas and then leave them to dry out and keep them dried- they last for ages and add a vintage feel with pale and faded colours. I have a couple in a vase in our bedroom and they just lift the space.

Or some pussy willow....

But if you do not have the money to splash out on these posh bouquets get yourself down to Ikea as they have a great range of faux flowers.....I was so tempted to get some last time I was there but eventually decided to hold out for the more expensive ones when my friend and I visit Covent Garden flower market in a couple of weeks! Can't wait H (even with kids in tow)!

The flowers from Ikea that I thought were nice were the following:

http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/70153650/-The dark pink and white were nice- £2 per stem

http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/80209265/ -All other these are nice - £3 per stem

http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/80234383/ - The blue and the white sweat peas are nice - £2.50 per stem

http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/40234375/ - All are nice but personally would stick to the whites - £2.50 per stem

Hope this has brighten up your day a little and inspired you to add a little bloom to your home and feel a bit trendy about it too.
