Contrasts

Hello, apologies for lack of posts, I think it's been over a month since my last one!

Here are some beautiful interiors. I'm really into monochrome at the moment in fashion and interiors! Love love love all of these rooms and wish it was my house.

Fabulous dark kitchen which doesn't look like a kitchen......clever. I also love the black ladder leaning against the black wall and the hint of colour from the traddy painting sitting on the floor. Great idea to use a angle-poise floor lamp as a task light for the kitchen, it shouldn't work but it does!

This interior is by Canadian architects gh3. Beautiful curved staircase in white with contrasting black timber stairs. The black moooi smoke chair is my chair ( I have one!) so could almost imagine it being my house! In my dreams! The only thing in this image I am not keen on is the dark brown sofa, the upholstery looks rather wrinkled and somehow the fabric looks a bit faded. A dark charcoal grey upholstery would look far nicer. You can check out more images of this house here http://www.iainclaridge.co.uk/blog/1053

Great bed design with the built in shelves which can be used as bedside tables, such a brilliant idea and adds dimension to the small sleeping area keeping it uncluttered without the need for any bedside tables. I like the mix of the industrial flume and traditional style beams. Again a floor lamp is being used out of context and instead of bedside lamps. The contrast between the dark sleeping space and the rest of the room in white distinguishes a difference in use of space, a very clever trick.

Although this bathroom is very simple I love it, especial the oversized portrait leaning against the wall  and the interesting mix of white contemporary bath with the more traditional style of black furniture. I would also like to add that I would never have thought of putting a small table and a chair in a bathroom however it works and you could use it as a dressing table. So beautifully simple that it just works!

Hope this has inspired you and got you thinking....

night night
